Anyone else feeling slightly off after Daylight Savings Time? I know I’m personally feeling like a night owl all of a sudden! Sleep is so vitally important as it allows our body to heal and repair the damage we’ve done throughout the day.
.
Studies show that quality sleep “helps regulate our immune system, maintain optimal hormone balance (including ghrelin – the hunger hormone), enhance brain function, and support emotional well-being.” Lack of sleep can actually increase our risk for chronic health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. PLUS, as you probably know, driving while sleep-deprived is just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated!!!
.
If you’ve been having issues getting proper sleep, there’s likely an underlying cause creating an imbalance in your system! I personally suffered from insomnia until I started receiving regular chiropractic care, and I definitely had some major imbalances (thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, and estrogen overload just to name a few). I can’t even begin to tell you how relieved I was when my body finally had the ability to sleep through the night again!!
