Reiki Energy Healing

What is Reiki Energy Healing?

Usui Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The practice is based on the concept of “ki,” which is the life force energy that flows through all living things. Usui Reiki practitioners believe that by tapping into this universal energy and directing it through their hands, they can help to heal physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.

The founder of Usui Reiki was a Japanese man named Mikao Usui, who developed the system of healing after years of study and meditation. Usui Reiki is typically taught through a series of training sessions or “attunements,” in which the student is initiated into the practice and learns how to channel the energy. Each practitioner’s energetic lineage is passed down from teacher to student during the attunement ceremonies which opens the individual up to higher levels of spiritual guidance and connection.

During a typical Usui Reiki session, the recipient lies down or sits comfortably while the practitioner places their hands on or near their body. The practitioner then channels the Reiki energy into the recipient’s body, helping to clear blockages and promote relaxation, balance, and healing.

Usui Reiki is considered a complementary therapy and is often used in conjunction with other forms of medical or holistic treatment. It is widely used in hospitals, clinics, and wellness centers around the world, and has gained popularity for its gentle, non-invasive approach to healing. Reiki is a safe, non-intrusive healing technique for use on oneself, other people, or on animals. The implications for Reiki are limitless and it is often considered to be much more than a physical therapy or modaility. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonizing body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Reiki energy healing helps promote relaxation, a sense of wholeness, and encourages self-awareness, personal growth and spiritual development. In this regard, it is the perfect complement to chiropractic and acupuncture therapies as it is founded on similar healing principles and philosophies. Dr. Charlotte offers this therapy by itself (in-person or virtual) and in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments or acupuncture for added benefit based on each individual’s needs (please note: the addition of chiropractic or acupuncture services requires an Initial Consultation/Exam prior to treatment).

What is involved in learning how to become a Reiki Practitioner?

Usui Reiki training typically involves a series of classes or workshops led by a qualified Reiki master or teacher. The training is designed to help students develop their understanding of Reiki principles, learn how to channel Reiki energy, and become certified as a Reiki practitioner.

The first level of Usui Reiki training is called Shoden, which translates to “beginner teachings.” In this level, students learn the basic history and principles of Reiki, as well as techniques for self-healing. They also receive their first attunement, which is a ceremony that opens them up to the Reiki energy and helps them connect more deeply with their own intuition and healing abilities.

The second level of Usui Reiki training is called Okuden, which means “inner teachings.” In this level, students learn advanced techniques for working with the Reiki energy, including distance healing and the use of symbols as well as preparing to offer Reiki services to others. They also receive a second attunement, which strengthens their connection to the Reiki energy and expands their healing abilities.

The third level of Usui Reiki training is called Shinpiden, which means “mystery teachings.” In this level, students learn the master-level techniques and receive the master-level attunement. They also learn how to teach and attune others to Reiki, and become certified as Reiki masters.

Usui Reiki training is typically experiential and hands-on, with plenty of opportunities for practice and feedback. Students often participate in group exercises, guided meditations, and one-on-one practice sessions with other students. They are also encouraged to develop their own personal Reiki practice, which can include daily self-healing sessions, journaling, and ongoing study of Reiki principles and techniques.

Overall, Usui Reiki training is a deeply transformative and empowering experience that can help individuals connect more fully with their own healing abilities and intuition, and support their ongoing growth and development.

What do I need to know about choosing a Reiki Master Teacher?

Dr. Charlotte is a certified Usui Reiki Master Teacher (2020), as well as a certified Karuna Reiki Master (2021). She incorporates her knowledge and training of the human body, mind, and spirit to help integrate the lessons into an easily understood program that will help you redesign your way of life. She currently sees students on a one-on-one basis but is also available for group classes. Depending on the availability of the student(s), courses can be spread out over several weeks or combined into a weekend seminar. She highly recommends a minimum of 5 hours of in-person contact per level, with additional self-study and hands-on practice required to become fully certified. It is also recommended to take 1-2 months (or more) between each level to fully embrace and integrate the Reiki teachings into every day life, however, some students are more than ready to continue their course of study, so it is not required to wait to begin the next level of training. Currently, all classes and attunements are provided in-person. She includes the recommended course book and all the training materials needed to gain a full understanding of this sacred technique. Certificates of completion are provided at each level, and post-course support is always available to her students that wish to practice their technique and ask questions about setting up their own practice. Reiki Energy Gatherings are also available each month for current and past students who would like more hands-on practice as well as any one who is curious about Reiki and wants to learn more.

As always, remember to use your inner guide to bring you to your Reiki Master and to find one that is the right fit for you!

How do I prepare for a Reiki Course?

When preparing for a Reiki course, it is recommended to come with an open mind and a curiosity to learn! If you have started to take on new healthy lifestyle habits, Reiki will boost your energy and encourage your continued journey on the wellness path. Eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, limiting your consumption of alcohol, incorporating a daily meditation practice, and spending more time in nature will all help ease your transition into this next chapter in your life!

What should I expect after a Reiki Course?

At each level of attunement to Reiki, the frequency or rate of vibration of your energies is raised, and in order for this to happen there has to be a clearing of old physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual patterns or thoughts which can inhibit your personal growth & development. One of the major effects of a course is often called the “21 Day Clearing Cycle” where your energy bodies are cleansed and cleared by the newly attuned Reiki energy. Occasionally students with describe this as an energetic “spring cleaning,” which can often lead to feeling and understanding your emotions at a deeper level, as well as releasing “toxins” from the physical body through physical means. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids during this time to help assist in the healing process. As always, Dr. Charlotte is available for post-course support for those that seek it.
